Krakow is famous for its stag party destination tag but there are many other reasons to visit Krakow. The 500 odd bars and restaurants in the old city centre are the major attractions.
The Grand Square of the Krakow old city is the largest medieval plaza in Europe. Krakow was crowned the European City of Culture for the millennium because of the variety of colour and excitement available. Though Krakow is not the capital of Poland, it still retains the tag of the cultural capital. The awe inspiring Wawel castle and cathedral which are located overlooking the River Vistula is a reminder of the past of the city. This cathedral contains the marble tombs of the kings, queens and other leaders right from the medieval times to the recent years.
Krakow is also close to Kazimierz which was the location of Oskar Schindler's factory from the Schindler's List fame. This list saved many Jewish workers from concentration camps during the occupation of Poland by Germany. The place is now a museum and has some original pieces that the factory had made.

Krakow travel Poland is a best bet for art lovers and those looking for a fantastic cultural experience. The Podgorze district of the city was established in the 18th century by the Hapsburgs, and was transformed into a ghetto by the Nazis in World War II.

Since that time it has gone through many rough years, but most recently Podgorze is enjoying a cultural renaissance as the city's new museum quarter. A large history museum just opened this June in the Schindler Factory building, and right next door a new modern art museum is planned along with a theater museum next to the river. Colorful local hotspots and hangouts are sprouting along the waterfront, drawing a younger crowd to the chic cafes. Yet the area is far from a tourist mecca and retains an Old World charm that makes it special.
